Clarissa Sligh focuses a studious gaze as the slave trade is pictured in symbols and its history recounted. Trade Routes is one of a powerful series prints portraying the history and economics of slavery in America.

Clarissa Sligh is an artist photographer whose work is based on personal and community stories made as photographs, artist’s books, installations and mixed media. She has received many awards including an NEA Fellowship, Anonymous Was a Woman, and the International Center for Photography’s Infinity Award. Clarissa’s focus and effort helped create the Coast to Coast Women Artists of Color network.
