In general, my images are created in the moment without preconception. For me, the image in two versions is an expression of spiritual self realization through harmony with the cycles of nature, the bounty of the Earth and the pleasure of sharing the fruits of one's labor in this miraculous existence.
After completing the luminous first version (Sun I), I decided to add an additional layer in black for more contrast (Sun II). I see them as sunrise and sunset.

In the the summer of 1990, I was very happy to be invited by Andrea Callard to spend a couple of weeks in the beautiful countryside of Lexington, NY for the purpose of making prints. The tranquil, natural surroundings, beautiful weather and a wonderful cassette of ecstatic music that was new to me - a gift from my girlfriend, Winni, as I left the city for Lexington, all fed into the image that seemed to already be on the paper as I made the first drawing for transfer to the silkscreen.
