Rand Russell

Reflections by the Pool 
(1988)

Rand Russell is a master screen printer trained in England. Russell made prints with many artists while directing Grin Graphics, a collaborative art studio specializing in digital imaging and water based screen printing. She brought unique technical expertise to Avocet including the use of textured films.

Rand Russell’s print collaboration history is archived at the Rutgers Archives for Printmaking Studios at the Zimmerli Museum, Rutgers University. After many years in New York, she moved to Portland.

Rand Russell's Reflections by the Pool shows the way the earth and plant forces reclaim human efforts over time, proving the idea that nature abhors a vacuum.

The pool had been part an art camp for youth on the Art Awareness grounds. During the Avocet years, it was full of frogs and growing water plants.
